Website terms

Last updated

These terms apply to this website, including the free sample test and the email waitlist. They are an agreement between you and Nagy Tamás Dávid, based in Hungary (“we”, “us”). The Hanamaru app has its own Hanamaru app terms of use; when the full app launches, its terms will be published on this page.

1. Using the website

The website is free to use. You don't need an account to read it or take the sample test. If you create a Hanamaru account here, it is the same account as in the app, and the Hanamaru app terms of use apply to it. Please use the website in a normal, lawful way. In particular, do not:

  • create accounts for other people without their permission;
  • try to break, overload or get around the security of the site or its bot check;
  • copy, scrape or republish the sample questions or other content, except as allowed in section 4.

2. The sample test

The free sample test is JLPT-style practice, not an official test. Your score is an estimate meant to help you see where you are. It does not predict your result in the real JLPT or any other exam, and we cannot guarantee any learning outcome.

Every question is original to Hanamaru. Some are first drafted with AI tools; every one is reviewed and approved before it is published. Mistakes can still happen. If you find one, please tell us at [email protected].

3. The waitlist

Joining the waitlist is free. It is not a purchase, pre-order or reservation, and it does not oblige you or us to anything. We use it only to tell you about Hanamaru’s launch and beta, as described in the privacy policy. You can leave at any time with the unsubscribe link in any email. When the app launches, it will be sold only through the App Store and Google Play; we do not take payments on this website.

4. Content and intellectual property

The questions, explanations, texts, design and code of this website are original and belong to Nagy Tamás Dávid. You may view them and use them for your own personal study. Anything else, such as republishing, selling, or using them to train or build another product or AI model, needs our written permission.

Third-party material: the sample test currently uses no third-party dictionary data. The website uses the Nunito and Noto Sans JP fonts under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. If we add open data (for example JMdict, KANJIDIC2 or KanjiVG), we will credit it here with its licence.

5. JLPT

We use “JLPT” only to describe the style and level of our practice material. Not affiliated with the Japan Foundation or Japan Educational Exchanges and Services. See the full JLPT disclaimer.

6. Availability and links

We provide the website free of charge and may change, pause or stop parts of it, including the sample test, at any time. Links to other websites are for your convenience; we are not responsible for their content.

7. Liability

We take care to keep the website accurate and working, but it is provided free and as it is, and we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, and nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by Hungarian law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of that country, and you may bring a claim in its courts.

9. Changes

We may update these terms, for example when the app launches. The date at the top shows the latest version. Changes apply from the moment they are published here and do not apply retroactively.
